I have a theory..

We live for not ourselves, but for others.

Ask me who do we live for, that’s what i’d answer. Many would probably say we live for ourselves, or at least we should.

Remember when we were young, we were always nagged by our parents. They have to know everything - friends we made, school exams, results, our post schools, future, relationships, etc. We always have to live for them, for their sake.

When we grow up, we live for our teachers, lecturers, bosses, fellow friends, workers, etc. We get into relationships, live for our girlfriend/boyfriend. We make them happy, cheer them up, be their support, etc.

When we get married, we have families. We support our spouses, our children. We work for them, we live for them. We provide them with happiness the best we can, then again, refer back to when we were young, how they’d feel.

It’s a cycle. So many reasons, so many examples, all of which proves we live for others. When do we ever live for ourselves?
